Burres, a mother of six with a seventh on the way, penned her book "I Love You and I Like You" in 2011, and is currently expecting a sequel to debut in February or March.
The first book describes the unconditional love between a child and parent, Burres said.
"Regardless of what they say or do, they always love each other," she told Daily Voice. "My son, when he was 3, added 'I like you' into it."
The story goes back and forth as a dialogue between the mother and son as they talk to one another. The sequel will be titled "I Love You and I Like You Still" and follows the mother and son at a slightly older age.
Burres, a West Milford High School grad, said she always loved writing. She never thought about publishing until her husband Ken suggested it.
"I think having kids it just kind of inspired me because there's so many topics to write about," she said.
Since her debut book Burres took to the road to read it to children, including at her hometown Wanaque Public Library.
Burres previously worked as a fourth-grade teacher at Hawthorne Christian Academy but scaled it back to part time for the Gifted and Talented program so she can have more time with her family.
Her oldest child is 14 and the youngest at 4 until the new baby arrives. Of the six the Burres family only has one girl.
"I'm one of nine [children] so I guess I'm used to the chaos," she said.
